Remote Control Operation

SunSpec pergolas are a unique type of pergola that allows you to control the amount of sunlight, shade, and rain protection you have on-demand. With the push of a button, you can open and close the louvres on the pergola to adjust the amount of sunlight and shade.

You can also adjust the angle of the
louvres to provide more or less sun protection. In addition, the pergola comes with a rain sensor that will automatically close the louvres when it detects rain. This allows you to enjoy your outdoor space without having to worry about the weather.

Protection Against The Elements

SunSpec's pergolas are built to last, with powder-coated marine-grade aluminium that resists rust, rot, and deterioration. The powder coating provides a durable finish that will withstand the elements for years to come.

The pergola's components offer an attractive and durable solution that won't require time-consuming or expensive upkeep. The powder coating process fuses a protective layer of material to the metal surface, creating a barrier against moisture, UV rays, and other environmental factors. This means that your pergola will resist fading, chipping, and cracking, even in the most extreme conditions.

Our powder-coated
pergolas are a great way to protect your patio from weather damage. The powder coating helps to deflect solar heat, and the pergola's design allows rising hot air and high winds to pass through, reducing the risk of damage to window coverings, flooring, and furniture.

In addition, the powder coating helps to reflect sunlight, reducing the need for cooling and saving you money on your energy bills. Whether you're looking to save money or simply keep your home in top condition, our
pergolas are a great choice.

At
SunSpec, we take pride in the quality of our pergolas. That's why we offer a 10-year warranty on all powder-coated pergola components and labour. This way, you can be confident that your pergola will stand the test of time. We use only the highest quality materials, and our team of skilled craftsmen are experts in powder-coating technology.

Custom Design and Installation

At SunSpec, we never do anything by halves. When it comes to your outdoor space, one size does not fit all, which is why we offer custom designs and installations to ensure you get the best fit for your Central Coast home.

Our process starts with a member of our team coming to your property to measure the space. They will talk you through the various materials and styles we offer in person, as the list can seem a little intimidating at first glance. All of our designs use Australian materials, which are best for our climate. At this point, we can provide you with a no-obligation quote. If you are happy with this, we can talk you through the design and installation so you know what to expect and when to expect it. When the
pergola has been designed and manufactured, our team will come back to your property to install it.

By offering a bespoke service, we have made sure we can cater to any outdoor space. Whether you want to protect an outdoor seating area or provide a cooler space for your children to play in, we can make it happen.

Insulation For The Outdoors

Stepping out into your garden, whether you are entertaining friends or simply relaxing with a book, should always feel like a breath of fresh air. This is a little harder when the weather heats up. Our pergolas are uniquely designed to help you entertain outdoors in complete comfort.

The louvres on our pergolas can be adjusted. This can create a valuable shaded area in your garden, which has the potential to cool down the area beneath the pergola by up to 5 degrees. While this sounds small, you will have a safe area in your garden for you, your children and your pets who struggle most when it is hot. Not only this, but the pergola’s open structure allows hot air to pass through the space. This will prevent it from feeling stuffy and stifling.

At the same time, having the option of shade will also preserve the quality of your outdoor furniture, appliances and lighting. This is especially true if you have outdoor LED lights, which function best in colder weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will I need council approval or a building permit for my pergola installation?

For most pergolas, probably not. It’s always a good idea to check with your local council about the regulations surrounding these types of structures. In general, most areas won’t require a permit unless the floor space exceeds 10 square metres or 3 metres in height. On the Central Coast, the current regulations stipulate that the floor space can’t exceed 20 square metres, which is more than enough room for most pergolas.

  • How long does a pergola last?

The lifespan of a pergola generally depends on the materials used to build it. There are three popular materials used for pergolas, which have variable life spans:

    • Wooden pergolas can last for 10 to 12 years with annual maintenance and treatments.
    • Vinyl pergolas are a strong material that can last anywhere up to 20 years if maintained correctly.
    • Aluminium pergolas last an incredibly long time due to the durable qualities of this metal. You can expect a well-maintained aluminium pergola such as those from Sunspec to last 20 years or more.
  • Do pergolas block the rain?

It depends on the type of pergola you have, but generally speaking, they don't offer complete protection against the rain and most pergolas aren’t designed to be waterproof. However louvred options would be the best option. If you’re interested in something to block the rain, why not consider a patio roof instead?

  • Can I have a pergola in a small garden?

We design our pergolas around your needs and the space you have available. Even in smaller gardens, it's still vital to have shade to protect you from extremely hot weather. Once we have measured your outdoor space, we will have a better idea of what options are available to you.

  • How will a pergola reduce my cooling costs?

By adding a pergola and creating a space with shade, you can step outside to cool down. A pergola can also protect the exterior of your property by absorbing some of the heat. This will keep your property cooler in the long run.
